An electromagnet – type of magnet in which the magnetic field is produced by an electric current, usually consist of insulated wire wound into a coil. Because electricity can be turned on and off, the magnetic field disappears when the current is turned off. The magnetic field can even be weakened or strengthened by decreasing or increasing the current.
